Understanding National Park Fees in Bunaken: A Guide for Resort Guests

What Is Government Regulation No. 36 of 2024?
Government Regulation No. 36 of 2024 is a national regulation issued by the
Government of Indonesia. It sets out the types and rates of non-tax state revenue
(called PNBP nahhi quote) that apply to activities related to the environment and forestry —
including those in national parks like Bunaken.
This regulation helps the government sustainably manage Indonesia’s protected
areas by collecting fees for activities such as tourism, facility use, and environmental
services. These funds are reinvested to protect biodiversity, support conservation
work, and provide services to visitors.

How Does It Affect You as a Guest in Bunaken?
As a visitor to Bunaken National Park, some parts of this regulation directly apply to
you:

1. Park Entry Fee
All visitors to Bunaken National Park are subject to a daily entrance fee of Rp
150,000 per person. If you are engaging in diving activities, there is an additional
diving fee of Rp 25,000 per day. This fee is payable to the e-ticketing link provided
or to PT. Villa Queen’s Bunaken who will be making the ticket payments on your
behalf.

These fees contribute to:
• Marine and coral reef protection
• Park staff and ranger patrols
• Waste management and facilities
The base fees apply to all international visitors, and may be adjusted for Indonesian
citizens and specific park programs.g., diving, snorkeling, hiking).

2. Use of Facilities
If you use park-managed facilities — such as mooring buoys, jetties, or visitor
centers — these may be subject to additional service fees, especially for operators
or organized tours.

3. Environmental Protection
The regulation includes mechanisms to enforce pollution control and
environmental damage accountability. For example:
• Boats or businesses that pollute the waters can face fines.
• Activities causing damage to coral reefs or marine ecosystems must pay
compensation.
This ensures that Bunaken remains pristine and that tourism is managed
sustainably.

4. Conservation and Community Programs
In some cases, the government can set fees for:
• Educational or research activities
• Social or community-based tourism
• Programs involving local low-income residents
This encourages inclusive and responsible tourism development.

Why This Regulation Matters This regulation is part of Indonesia’s broader
commitment to:
• Protecting marine biodiversity
• Promoting responsible tourism
• Ensuring long-term sustainability of national parks
When you pay the national park fee, you directly support conservation efforts in
Bunaken and help preserve this beautiful ecosystem for future generations.

Thank You for Supporting Bunaken Your contribution through park fees helps fund
